The Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK) issued an Evacuation Alert on Saturday, August 30,
for an area adjacent to Bugaboos Provincial Park as the Silver Basin Wildfire (N21687) continues to grow under hot, dry conditions and increasing winds.
The wildfire is still considered to be out of control.
The alert, applies to a remote backcountry area that includes several recreational spots and private properties.
Officials are urging anyone in the area to be prepared to evacuate on short notice.
The Evacuation Alert applies to the area:

South of where Bugaboo Creek Road meets Septet Creek (N 50° 47′ 56.04”, W 116° 41′ 2.039)

Extending south to the Bugaboo Provincial Park boundary
Including the following locations:
- Bugaboo Falls Recreation Site
- Bugaboo Septet Recreation Site
- CMH Lodge

The Silver Basin Wildfire remains out of control, and fire conditions are expected to remain consistent due to forecasted heat and wind.
While this is not an evacuation order, the RDEK recommends residents and visitors in the area take steps to prepare:

Register for evacuation notifications at www.rdek.bc.ca

Pack a ‘Go Bag’ with essentials (ID, medications, important documents, personal items)

Plan a meeting location outside the alert area in case of separation

Fuel up vehicles and relocate RVs or boats.

Pre-register with the Evacuee Registration & Assistance (ERA) Tool at ess.gov.bc.ca
