On Tuesday (Aug. 26), Council moved to grant the land for a three-year term instead, along with a request to expand the proposed play space to include the large tree and to be closer to the entrance of the courthouse.
Tessa Sherar, assistant manager at the playschool, told Council about the importance of providing extra legroom for the children in their care.
Mayor Nic Milligan said the kids’ safety takes precedence over any administrative or budgetary concerns.
Wild Wapiti is set to lease the land for $10 a year until 2028.
