Police in Cranbrook are asking for the public’s help in finding a missing bike stolen from the back of a car Wednesday night (Aug. 13).
This morning (Aug. 14), RCMP responded to a report of three bicycles being taken from a bike rack at a hotel parking lot on Van Horne Street South overnight. With the owner’s help, police located two of the bikes within hours of receiving the report.
A light grey Stump Jumpers with purple handle grips remains missing.
“Police are also reminding the public not to leave bicycles on vehicles overnight, even if they are locked,” said Cranbrook RCMP. “Thieves can quickly bypass most locking systems, and securing bikes inside a garage or residence is the safest option.”
Anyone with information about the missing bicycle or who witnessed suspicious activity in the area that night is asked to contact the Cranbrook RCMP at 250-489-3471 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
