The City of Cranbrook is asking riders to stay safe as they roll into another month of summer with Bird Canada’s e-scooters.
Up to 100 scooters hit Key City streets across various areas of the community in April.
Since then, the City has issued ride safety reminders to avoid collisions with pedestrians, cars or other riders, such as:
- Obeying all traffic laws, signs, and signals. E-Scooters are treated like all other motor vehicles in the eyes of the law.
- Using e-Scooters only where allowed, such as bike lanes, on roads with a speed limit of 50 km/h or lower and multi-use pathways– not sidewalks.
- Using helmets and not carrying passengers.
“Let’s keep everyone safe—ride smart and follow the rules,” said the City.
Anyone who witnesses misuse or has concerns can report it through the Bird app or by emailing 311_cranbrook@birdcanada.co.
E-scooters are set to stay on the road until November, weather-permitting.
