One of Tamarack Centre’s most popular stores is closing its doors by the end of this summer, more than a decade since it first opened.
Bulk Barn is shutting down on August 26 or sooner, depending on the amount of stock available over the next month, an employee confirmed with Rewind Radio News.
The bulk goods shop had been serving Cranbrook since August 30, 2012, in the 6,000-square-foot space between Staples and Winners. It employs between 10 and 11 staff members.
Speculation behind the closure ranges from rising retail space costs to Winners expanding its storefront, but the Tamarack Centre has looked to debunk at least one of those rumours.
“The Tamarack Centre tried working with them to get them relocated within the mall, but the company has decided to pull out of Cranbrook altogether,” wrote the Cranbrook shopping mall on social media.
“Their move is not related to a rent increase, but was simply a business decision that came from their head office.”
