A new opportunity for youth to connect through sport is coming to Cranbrook this July, as the Rocky Mountain Métis Association (RMMA), in partnership with ISPARC, the Vancouver Canucks, and the Canucks for Kids Fund, hosts a free Jr. Canucks Indigenous Floor Hockey Jamboree.
Set for July 15, 2025, at the Cranbrook Alliance Church, the event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and is open to youth between the ages of 5 and 17.
Participants will enjoy lunch, mini games, and special appearances from Fin the Whale, the Vancouver Canucks mascot, and Kirk McLean, a Canucks alumni goaltender.
The event is part of a broader effort by the Canucks for Kids Fund to increase access to sport, promote physical literacy, and support youth mentorship.
The floor hockey program aims to foster inclusion while providing meaningful ways for communities to come together and connect.
Following the Jamboree, RMMA will host six weeks of drop-in ball hockey at the Alliance Church, running once a week on Tuesdays (July 22 and 28, and August 5, 12, 19, and 26) from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
These events are also free and open to the same age group.
