Cranbrook RCMP have arrested a suspect in connection with the theft of a large boom lift valued at more than $140,000.
Police say the investigation began around 8:45 p.m. on July 7, after an off-duty firefighter reported a suspicious man operating industrial equipment near Industrial Road G.
Mounties responded and determined the boom lift had been stolen from a local work site.
The suspect was arrested and remains in custody awaiting a first court appearance.
Cranbrook RCMP are encouraging the public to report suspicious activity following a rise in theft reports in recent weeks.
“If you notice anything out of the ordinary, such as individuals loitering in unusual areas or peering into vehicle windows, call police,” says Staff Sgt. Barry Graham, detachment commander.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Cranbrook RCMP at 250-489-3471.
