Columbia Valley RCMP say they responded to 96 calls for service between June 30 and July 6, as summer activity continues to drive up local call volumes.
Among the calls was an armed robbery and vehicle theft that took place on the evening of July 2. Police say four people were sitting in a vehicle when a man approached, pointed a firearm at the driver, and demanded their keys and cell phones before fleeing in the vehicle.
RCMP officers conducted patrols, but the suspect and vehicle have not been located.
The investigation is ongoing.
Four vehicles were also removed from local highways for excessive speeding over the week.
On July 6, officers were called to assist two kayakers who had become stranded in the wetlands after being swept downriver. Police say the couple was located and instructed to paddle across to the responding officers, who then drove them back to their vehicle.
The Columbia Valley RCMP say summer months are typically the busiest for the detachment, with weekly calls often doubling compared to other times of year.
