The RCMP are looking for public assistance after responding to a recent string of thefts and break-ins in Cranbrook.
From the evening of Canada Day to early this morning (Jul. 2), police received reports of multiple successful and attempted thefts in Top Crop, Home Hardware and vehicles along the 2600 block of 5th Street South.
Police are asking residents in the latter area to review their home surveillance footage for any suspicious activity from midnight to 5 a.m. Businesses near the commercial break-and-enter incidents are also encouraged to check their security systems.
Other property crime investigations included four shoplifting reports, a bicycle tire stolen from a graduate attending commencement, and two vehicle thefts – each resulting in the arrest of a suspect.
Anyone with information about these incidents is asked to contact Cranbrook RCMP at 250-489-3471 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
Residents are also urged to use the RCMP’s online reporting tool to help create valuable crime statistics that highlight Cranbrook’s high-risk areas.
