Mounties in the Elk Valley have taken two men into custody after a weekend break-and-enter in the Elk Valley Resource (EVR) building along Michel Creek Road and Highway 3 in Sparwood.
On June 29, at around 10 p.m., RCMP responded to an incident in progress after security personnel reported seeing two men stealing wire and other items from the warehouse yard.
Officers worked with police dogs to quickly find and arrest two men on site who matched the descriptions given by security personnel.
“During a search incidental to arrest, officers discovered break in tools within a backpack located on one of the males,” wrote Elk Valley RCMP. “All of the stolen product was recovered.”
Both men are from Alberta and were not known to local police at the time of the arrest. They’ve since been released on a number of conditions, including a no-go order to or within the Elk Valley and a first court appearance scheduled for September.
