Cranbrook RCMP met with Mayor Wayne Price and City Council this week to help shape the 2025/2026 Annual Performance Plan, focusing efforts on local safety priorities for the coming year.
The plan outlines goals such as reducing crime and victimization, expanding Restorative Justice, strengthening relationships with Indigenous communities, and building public trust.
Council emphasized addressing drug use, overdoses, especially among youth, petty theft, and crimes targeting vulnerable residents.
Continued coordination between RCMP and Bylaw Services to support the city’s unhoused population was also highlighted as a key focus.
“This input from Council is key to ensuring we provide quality policing services to Cranbrook,” said Sgt. Stu Hert, Operations NCO with the Cranbrook RCMP.
Sgt. Hert also encouraged residents to use the RCMP’s online reporting tool, which supports crime tracking and helps determine where resources are most needed.
The tool is available at: https://ocre-sielc.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cranbrook/en.
By working closely with Council and the community, the RCMP aims to ensure its strategies reflect local concerns and contribute to a safer, more responsive model for Cranbrook.
