Electoral Area A named Rosemary Brydon its 2025 Volunteer of the Year on Tuesday, recognizing her nearly two decades of work supporting youth in the Elk Valley.
Brydon co-founded the Emily Brydon Youth Foundation with her daughter, former Olympian Emily Brydon.
Since its launch, the foundation has invested nearly $1 million in helping local youth pursue opportunities in sports, education, and the arts across Fernie, Elkford, and Sparwood.
“For nearly 20 years, Rosemary has been the heart of the Emily Brydon Youth Foundation” said Area A Director Thomas McDonald.
“Rosemary’s relentless passion and her commitment to helping youth across the Elk Valley are inspiring.”
Brydon processes applications, coordinates funding, manages finances, and helps run fundraising events, including golf tournaments.
“Her contributions have been invaluable to the region” McDonald added.
The Regional District of East Kootenay presented the award during a town hall meeting at the Hosmer Community Hall.
