JCI Kootenay, a local non-profit organization focused on professional development and community service, brought home multiple awards from the recent JCI BC/Yukon Regional Convention held in Vernon.
The Harry Potter-themed event, which fosters friendly competition among members from across British Columbia and Yukon, recognized JCI Kootenay as Chapter of the Year.
The chapter’s success was highlighted by individual honours as well.
Daniel Crema, JCI Kootenay’s Training Director, received the Most Outstanding Member of the Year award.
Kristin Eitzenberger, Membership Director, was named Rookie of the Year runner-up, while President Sven Sloeserwij earned runner-up for Executive of the Year.
The 2024 BC/Yukon Regional Convention, hosted by JCI Kootenay, was also awarded Best Conference of the Year.
In the Effective Speaking Competition, Chancellor Litke, Past President of JCI Kootenay, captured first place in both the Prepared and Impromptu categories.
Throughout the conference, a unique House Cup-style competition took place, culminating in JCI Kootenay winning the Giesenbier Trophy for the first time in over five years.
Despite trailing for much of the event, the chapter rushed to claim victory with a last-minute win in the effective speaking category.
The awards earned at the regional level qualify JCI Kootenay members to compete for national honours this September in Penticton.
JCI Kootenay serves young professionals aged 18 to 40 in the Cranbrook and Kimberley area.
