Key City Theatre is kicking off Pride Month by displaying a colourful palette of the local Pride scene this month for its third annual Faces of Pride project.
Guests can expect food, music, and the opportunity to hear directly from the photographers and the faces on the walls at the exhibit’s grand opening tonight (Jun. 5) at 6 p.m. Local photographers Stephanie Moore and Morgan Turner have taken on the work started by Cranbrook artist Joel Robison, capturing 21 portraits of 2SLGBTQIA+ community members.
“It’s just cool to see that it’s progressed over a number of years,” said Galen Olstead, executive director of the Theatre. “We’ve got some people that have been in all three, some people that it’s their first time, each year has been different.”
Portraits will be on display at Key City Theatre throughout the month. In July and August, the exhibit will continue to be part of the Faces of Pride Art Walk, with portraits featured at various local venues.
Key City Theatre is participating in several Pride initiatives this year, including a photo booth out at Pride In The Park this Saturday (Jun. 7), as well as a screening of Pride vs. Prejudice: The Delwin Vriend Story in partnership with the Community Foundation of the Kootenay Rockies on June 12.
