College of the Rockies will host a series of educational summer camps focused on STEAM—Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics—at its Cranbrook and Fernie campuses in July and August 2025.
The camps are designed for children and teens ranging in age from 5 to 16 and include activities such as LEGO robotics, digital design, and outdoor exploration.
Each program emphasizes hands-on learning and skill development.
Fernie Campus: LEGO Robotics Camp (Ages 8–13)
A week-long camp focused on LEGO Mindstorms will run from July 7 to 11.
Participants will build and program robots to complete challenges.
The program is led by a robotics instructor and will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The registration fee is $300, and the deadline to register is July 3.
Cranbrook: Build-It Bootcamp – Lasers and Layers (Ages 12–16)
In partnership with Community Futures East Kootenay, this camp runs from July 14 to 18 and introduces teens to digital design and fabrication tools such as laser cutters and 3D printers. Sessions will be held at the YXC Makerspace in the Ground Floor Coworking Space.
Participants are required to bring a laptop and mouse.
The program runs daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a $300 registration fee.
The deadline to register is July 10.
Cranbrook: Outdoor Adventure Camp (Ages 5–10)
Two sessions of a five-day outdoor education program will be held on July 28–August 1 and August 11–15, led by Wildsight educators.
The nature-based camp includes outdoor exploration and science activities aimed at building curiosity and environmental awareness.
The program runs daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and costs $280 per session.
Registration deadlines are July 24 and August 7.
