Premier David Eby has issued a statement recognizing the start of Pride season across British Columbia, on the importance of celebrating 2SLGBTQIA+ communities and standing against discrimination.
“Pride season is much more than a celebration. It is also a declaration that hate and discrimination have no place in British Columbia,” Eby stated.
“Our government is committed to protecting the rights of everyone to be who they truly are and love who they love.”
Eby encouraged all British Columbians to participate in Pride events in their communities and extended well wishes to those celebrating.
Parliamentary Secretary for Gender Equity Jennifer Blatherwick also acknowledged the start of Pride season, emphasizing the importance of safe, inclusive spaces.
“Let’s continue to support services and lift up safe spaces for our 2SLGBTQIA+ community,” said Blatherwick.
“Thank you to everyone who works hard to make Pride a success throughout our province.”
Pride events are expected to continue across B.C. throughout the summer.
