Sherry Shields has been officially recognized as the 2025 Electoral Area E Volunteer of the Year, honoured for her commitment to her community and years of dedicated volunteer work.
“Sherry consistently steps up to help, whenever and wherever assistance is needed in Area E,” said Jane Walter, RDEK Electoral Area E Director.
“She is the maintenance manager of the Wasa Memorial Garden and has spent countless hours keeping it beautiful, while also recruiting others to join her. Her dedication to the garden shows that she not only takes great care with plants, but people too, as the garden is important to so many.”
Sherry is a familiar face at Lions Club events, lending a hand wherever needed, from planning to cleanup.
One of her most beloved roles is at the Winter Festival, where she and her family are known for cooking and serving bannock.
“Sherry’s time and effort have not gone unnoticed, and we are pleased to recognize her spirit, dedication, and enthusiasm for supporting those in Area E,” added Walter.
Sherry was celebrated last night at a ceremony held in conjunction with the Electoral Area E Town Hall Meeting in Wasa.
