BC Parks has completed accessibility upgrades at Jimsmith Lake Park near Cranbrook.
Work included recontouring the beach for improved access, installation of an accessible beach mat for summer use, and construction of an accessible fishing dock.
An accessible playground and picnic area were also added in the lower day-use area near the lake.
The upgrades are part of BC Parks’ provincewide initiative aiming to improve accessibility in parks.
In 2024, more than 25 accessibility-related projects were completed, with over 20 additional projects in progress.
