After a fierce selection of over a hundred names, the Cranbrook Public Library has named the three winners of its Cartastic Naming Challenge.
On March 14, the Library asked residents to share some creative names for its three book return carts. A judge panel then narrowed the list from 120 suggestions, and an in-person public vote was held for the finalists.
The three winners now rolling down the library aisles are: Cart-o-saurus Rex, Cartoo Deetoo (Cart 2 D 2) and He Who Must Be Read, Lord Rolldemort.
“We were absolutely floored by the sheer volume and hilarious creativity of the names submitted,” said Ursula Brigl, Chief Librarian of the Cranbrook Public Library. “Your imagination brought smiles to our faces and gave our tired carts some seriously cool new identities!”
The idea is an offshoot of the viral Name a Plow Contest popping up across North America. CPL Communications Coordinator Kyla Cornish told Rewind Radio News in March that the Cartastic Naming Challenge could become an annual event– maybe with even more carts.
