The City of Kimberley announced a staffing update last week.
A familiar face will be rejoining the city in a newly created role, as Justin Cook is now the city’s Senior Planner, while Max Garvey will take over the role of Planning Technician.
Cook enters this new role with a “wealth of experience,” serving as a City Planner for the Regional District of East Kootenay, City of Kimberley, and the Town of Caledon, Ontario.
Garvey joins the city’s planning team after completing his undergrad degree at the University of British Columbia, and brings experience from both the District of North Vancouver and UBC Forestry.
Troy Pollock, Planning and Sustainability Manager, said “Their expertise and dedication will be invaluable as we work towards creating a sustainable and vibrant future for Kimberley.”
In a release, the city says to start, Cook’s “first priorities will be updating the Official Community Plan and zoning bylaws, with a focus on addressing the housing issues facing Kimberley today.”
