Local pre-teens, teens solicited for explicit photos

Although the threat is always there, RCMP in Cranbrook are warning of some recent incidents of young girls being asked to post explicit photos.

An unknown male, through social media apps, is reportedly offering up money, drugs, or alcohol, for the images.

While not providing too many details, authorities saying the incidents involve girls between the ages of 11 and 14.

RCMP are urging parents to take an active interest in their kid’s online activity and know what sites they’re visiting, even if they seem legitimate.

While the latest incidents involve girls, police add boys are just as prone to be victims of online abuse and extortion from seedy individuals.
