Highway Patrol officers across BC, including in our region, are cracking down this month on those who don’t slow down when approaching flashing lights.
Corporal Michael McLauglin points out that’s not only blue and red lights from emergency vehicles, but orange and white, from construction and utility workers, as well.
And, he says, if you’re not sure just how much to slow down, there’s a simple solution – it’s called the 70/40 rule…
Figures from the BC Highway Patrol show that between 2008 and 2017, there were 228 workers hit by a vehicle, of whom, 12 died.
