Jaffray fire crews were called out to fuel spill early Monday morning.
It’s believed that several hundred litres of diesel was able to escape from an apparent broken connector hose.
The result: a gas station and convenience store were closed as a precaution while a vac truck did its work.
The Ministry of Environment has been notified and will take the lead on the clean-up.
Elk Valley & South Country Fire Chief Michael Hockley said that six firefighters from the Jaffray Fire Department responded and secured the scene.
Hockley added the priority now is to ensure there’s no impacts on the aquifer or drinking water for nearby homes and businesses.
