The Regional District of East Kootenay has issued an Evacuation ORDER for two properties south of Island Pond near Canal Flats.
The order comes as a nearby wildfire, discovered Saturday, continues to grow, aided by hot and dry conditions.
An evacuation ALERT has also been added to 67 civic addresses northwest of Premiere Lake.
To facilitate an Evacuation Order, the RDEK has declared a State of Local Emergency for electoral areas E and F.
Orders and alerts have been posted at: www.rdek.bc.ca.
The regional district has set up an information phone number for residents and property owners (250-426-2188) and says, when not staffed, will have the latest recorded information on alerts and orders.
There is also a 1-800 number: 1-855-346-2188.
