Directors with the Regional District of East Kootenay have approved $10,000 in funding towards the City of Cranbrook’s temporary outdoor living space at Moir Park.
In a statement, Board chair Rob Gay acknowledged fresh water, cooking and shower facilities, and washing stations, are just some of things needed to support those at-risk and unhoused.
The board, he added, approved the allotment to help create a safe and stable location within the community.
The regional district has already put an additional $85,000 towards funding the position of Social Development Coordinator, now held by Marcel Germer.
