The ongoing heat wave and lack of rain prompting the BC Wildfire Service to issue a campfire ban to take effect this afternoon at 1 p.m. Mountain for almost all of the province, with the exception of Haida Gwaii.
The provincial government, in a statement, said the ban is being put in place to help prevent human-caused wildfires and help protect public safety.
The result: no fires of any kind including Category 2 and 3 open burning.
Those bans also extend into municipalities and regional districts, so no backyard fires either.
The same goes if you’re planning on travelling to Alberta this weekend.
The Alberta Government also issued a complete fire ban in all forested areas province-wide.
