A 36-year-old Sparwood man is recovering from his injuries after a bear attack near Elkford yesterday afternoon.
The man and his father were tracking bear with dogs when the son was mauled by an adult grizzly bear.
The Elkford fire department, BC Ambulance, RCMP, conservation officers, and search & rescue teams were called out.
Search & Rescue were able to long-line the person from some 200 feet down a mountain side.
He was flown by STARS air ambulance to Calgary in stable condition.
Shortly after 9pm, BCCOS (conservation) discovered the bear deceased near the original scene, however, no further details given.
