A cold front will bring heavy rain to the Elk Valley tonight and Thursday. Heaviest amounts are expected in the south including Fernie and Morrissey.
Snow will transition to rain throughout the afternoon. Rain will intensify this evening and persist through Thursday. The rain falling on top of the snow already on the ground will exacerbate water pooling and localized flooding risks.
The snow level will reside between 1100 and 1300 metres from this afternoon to Thursday evening. Heavy snow is expected above this level.
Heavy rain will ease to showers on Thursday evening in the wake of the cold front.
Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Be prepared for winter conditions at higher elevations.
