Columbia Valley RCMP say a teacher at Invermere’s David Thompson Secondary School is facing charges stemming from an investigation into inappropriate communication with a student.
Based on the information police were able to review, the matter was forwarded to the BC Prosecution Service and approved charges against Jason Walker for three offences.
The charges include sexual exploitation, making sexually explicit material available to a child, and luring a child.
Police say the offenses took place over social media, and investigators believe it may be possible other individuals are aware of the offenses, anybody with more information is asked to contact police.
Walker was arrested and placed on a number of conditions and is due in Columbia Valley Provincial Court on March 4.
