
Police in the Elk Valley are urging residents to use extra caution following a dangerous wildlife encounter in West Fernie.
Police were called Friday afternoon after a woman was riding her bike along the Elk River dike trail near MacDonald Avenue what what she believed to be a grizzly bear knocked her off her bike.
RCMP and BC Conservation Officers searched the area in an effort to locate the bear involved in the collision.
The woman was uninjured in the incident.

On Friday September 15th, 2023 the Elk Valley RCMP received a report of a dangerous wildlife encounter in West Fernie. The complainant was riding her bike along the Elk River dike trail near MacDonald Avenue when what is believed to be a grizzly bear knocked her off her bike. The complainant was uninjured in the incident. At the time of writing RCMP officers and BC Conservation Officers are responding to the area in an effort to locate the involved bear. Elk Valley RCMP are urging residents in the area to use extra caution.
