The Community of ʔaq̓am has rescinded an Evacuation Alert which had been covering twenty-six dwellings due to the St. Mary’s River Wildfire.
The area where the Evacuation Alert is no longer active is around the Mission Wycliffe Road and Mission Road areas, thirty-six properties remain on Evacuation Order in the ʔaq̓am community.
The St. Mary’s River Wildfire was classified as “being held” on Friday.
The fire broke out July 17 after heavy winds fanned a blaze triggered by downed power lines, the wildfire grew to 4,640 hectares and destroyed seven homes.
