The BC Wildfire Service confirms there was no overnight growth with the 4,093 hectare St. Mary’s River Wildfire.
A response officer flew over the fire Sunday morning and confirmed the size of the fire was unchanged.
All control lines are currently holding, but strong winds are expected this afternoon with above seasonal temperatures and low relative humidity in the forecast.
Firefighting personnel are prioritizing small scale hand ignitions Sunday morning before peak burning conditions. They are currently trying to burn any pockets of green from within the fire perimeter that could potentially cause a risk of spot fires in the coming days.
Eight aircrafts are currently assigned to the incident, including three heavy-lift helicopters.
