BC Wildfire Service crews are working to put out a wildfire near ?aqam.

Local highways contractor Mainroad East Kootenay says Wasa Mission Low Road is closed due to an active wildfire, access to LD ranch remains available.
All homes on Mission Road and Mission Wasa Low Road are being asked to evacuate and register with Emergency Social Services at the Health Centre.
The Community of ?aqam says downed power lines are the cause of the two fires in the area, one of which is measured at 20 hectares.
Crews with the BC Wildfire Service say heavy winds are increasing fire behaviour, ground crews are being supported by air tankers and helicopters.
