11:30 a.m. – A fatal crash closed Highway 3 east of Cranbrook Thursday morning.
RCMP responded to a collision between two passenger vehicles and a commercial vehicle about 15 kilometres east of the city between Pritchard Road and Abbey Pit Road.
Police are investigating, with Commercial Vehicle Safety Enforcement and WorkSafe BC involved.
The investigation is in early stages, with no word on the number of fatalities or injuries involved.
Highway 3 is expected to remain closed for several hours.
Drivers are advised to check DriveBC for updates.

9:24 a.m. – Highway 3 is closed east of Cranbrook following a collision involving multiple vehicles.
The incident is about 15 kilometres east of the city between Pritchard Road and Abbey Pit Road, south of the Rampart rest area.
A detour at this time is not available and drivers are being told to expect delays.
