An Invermere distillery’s vodka is being heralded as the best in Canada.
Taynton Bay Spirit’s triple distilled vodka was recognized as the third-best vodka in the world at the London Spirits Competition in March.
Co-owner and operator Justin Atterbury says their vodka had stiff competition with 170 entries in their category.
“Especially from all the different countries that sell spirits,” says Atterbury. “Especially in Europe, they’ve got a really high caliber for different vodkas and gin. We’re over the moon, we’re just finding out the best way to get the word out. Hopefully it helps business.”
Atterbury says their smaller operation provided the time and effort to give their vodka the edge.
“We’ve worked hard over the last six years refining the craft and figuring out the best way, especially based on customers feedback, on what makes a better tasting vodka,” he says. “We think we’ve got the perfect storm of doing things right.”
Taynton Bay also won a silver medal for their gin and a bronze for their raspberry vodka.
