Kimberley residents gathered in the platzl on Saturday to recognize their hometown Dynamiters.
Fans had a chance to meet the new KIJHL champions and get autographs with the team and pictures with the Teck Cup.
Mayor Don McCormick spoke about the team’s valuable role for Kimberley throughout the entire region.
“These guys are true ambassadors for Kimberley.” McCormick says. “Whenever they travel the communities around the entire Kootenays, they represent Kimberley and do us proud.”
Nitros forward Cash Regan was thrilled to see the community support.
“Its real to see all the fans come out and support us once again like they have all year,” Regan says. “Its so good to see.”
Team Captain Jayden Kostiuk was happy to see all the support from the town as he wraps up his time in the KIJHL.
“Its great to see everyone here,” Kostiuk says. “They’ve been showing their support all year long and its good to see it one last time here for me. Myself at least and all the 20 year olds.”
The Nitros won this year’s KIJHL championships and got silver medals at the recent Cyclone Taylor Cup tournament.
