Amplify East Kootenay is shining a spotlight on local businesses for 2023.
Today, we look at REALM Services Inc. in Cranbrook.

Whether it be creating friendships or an employment relationship they are in the community making these connections everyday. They have partnered with many businesses to create working relationships and host the ICE (Inclusive Employer) awards for appreciation with those businesses. Any event they try and use different services and locations, start up business’s and mom and pop shops are their first choice. Realm actively is supporting the community and within the community.”
Realm Services in Cranbrook was founded in 2003 and provides services to adults living with diverse abilities in the community.
Co-Founder and Co-Executive Managing Director Kerry Taylor-Johnson says Realm provides people with support to enhance and empower their quality of life while also providing a service throughout Cranbrook and the surrounding community.
“We work with a population of adults that identify with intellectual challenges and so we advocate, we empower and we support,” Taylor-Johnson says. “We’ve done all kinds of interesting things over the years as an agency with people and experiences that they want to have.”
Taylor-Johnson says they build their programs and activities based on what the people they serve identify as important.
“One of the things that we really take seriously and believe in is real experiential learning and getting out there and doing it,” Taylor-Johnson says. “So we believe inclusion happens wherever you are, in your home, in your community, in your region and in your country. So we like to get out there and really experience life.”
