
A man from Sparwood is facing numerous charges following a traffic stop on Highway 2 in Alberta earlier this month by Alberta RCMP Traffic Services.
Police stopped a vehicle travelling at 178 kilometres an hour in a 100 kilometres an hour zone on February 9th at 5:56 pm.
The lone occupant of the vehicle was arrested for dangerous driving. During an investigation of the vehicle, police found a sawed off shotgun, ammunition and break and enter tools.
RCMP have charged 22-year-old Jacob Douglas Mayne from Sparwood with 13 different offences, including flight from police, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
Mayne was held for a judicial interim hearing and has since been released. He is expected back in a Fort Macleod court on March 8th.

On Feb. 9, 2023, at 5:56 p.m., Alberta RCMP Traffic Services was conducting traffic enforcement on Hwy 2 when it observed a vehicle travelling east bound at 178 km’s per hour in a posted 100 km zone. A traffic stop was initiated on a 2003 Black Volkswagen Golf with BC plates and the lone occupant was arrested for Dangerous Driving. Fort Macleod RCMP attended and assisted the investigation. Police located a sawed off shotgun, ammunition and break and enter tools.
As a result of the investigation, Jacob Douglas Mayne (22), a resident of Sparwood, B.C., has been charged with:

Mayne was held for a judicial interim hearing and has since been released with a court date of Mar. 8, 2023, in Fort Macleod.
