Kimberley’s annual outdoors film and photography festival is under new management.
The Dirtbag Festival is now being hosted by Original Goat Production’s Chantel Delaney and Natalie Skokan.
Delaney says the festival features films and galleries which showcase thrill seekers and their outdoor adventures.
“There’s always some films that are really funny, some of them are really exciting, there’s a lot of outdoor adventure things that are just incredible like ice climbing waterfalls and things like that,” Delaney says. “It’s a really thrilling event, and there’s always a local music aspect of it. Just a lot of really impressive people that live here in the Kootenays.”
Delaney says new this year is a 24 hour photo contest on the first day of the festival.
“Basically we have a 24-hour period for photographers to go out and shoot, compile, and edit a slide show,” she says. “They’re all doing it on the same day, and they have to submit it the following day by 2 o’clock and they can put it to music and things like that. And there’s a fund raising aspect for Kimberley Search and Rescue.”
The festival is happening at Centre 64 May 12 and 13, film makers have until May 1 to submit their work.
