A candidate in Invermere’s upcoming district council byelection hopes to ensure the community continues to grow in a way that is sustainable for its residents.
Juanita Violini has lived in the Columbia Valley for 16 years, she is a local business owner and previously worked for Parks Canada.
Violini says word is getting out about Invermere being a sought-after resort town, she hopes to help district council to make sure the community’s growth remains sustainable.
“I think it’s really important that we work together to ensure that our growth looks after, benefits and values the community as a whole,” Violini says.
She is praising the work that the current district council is doing in Invermere, and she enjoys the closeness of the tight-knit community.
“There are great people that live here,” says Violini. “The people are so caring, and I really appreciate how we all help each other out. There’s a lot of things in place for those who have needs or special circumstances.”
Violini says she puts a premium on honesty, equality and accountability.
The byelection is happening March 4.
