A candidate in Invermere’s upcoming district council byelection looks forward to having an opportunity to serve his community.
David Goldsmith is one of five candidates vying to fill a vacancy at Invermere’s district council in the upcoming vote.
He’s lived in the Columbia Valley for 20 years, has experience serving on a number of community boards and worked with the Interior Health Authority board for several years.
Goldsmith says main issues for the District this term include infrastructure upgrades and ensuring a healthy housing stock which is affordable for working families.
“Sewer and water infrastructure needs to be seriously looked at, our source of freshwater for the town now and into the future,” Goldsmith says. “[And] How we will do residential development that is going to be sustainable and available.”
The longtime Columbia Valley resident says one of the main reasons he decided to run in the byelection is to have a chance to give back to the community through his retirement years.
“I have a lot of experience on boards and governance,” says Goldsmith. “I’ve given back to the community here through a couple of things, I serve on the local hospice society board. The opportunity to serve on Invermere District Council would be an excellent opportunity.”
The byelection is happening March 4.
