Two Kootenay credit unions are now set to merge together in the new year.
Members of both the East Kootenay Community Credit Union and the Heritage Credit Union passed all special resolutions needed for the merger with overwhelming support.
The two institutions will merge on January 1st and will operate under the new legal name “StellarVista Credit Union.”
EKC Board Chair Lynette Wray says they are pleased to see members supporting the merger.
The merger will bring together branches in seven Kootenay communities, including Cranbrook, Fernie, Sparwood and Elkford locally.
The boards of both credit unions are urging members to stay up to date on all changes by visiting their websites.
