A Kimberley City Council candidate in next month’s election enjoys many of the natural amenities in the community.
Andrew Skaien is seeking a seat at the city council table, he wants to help the City promote its natural outdoor amenities and lifestyle.
Skaien works at a vet clinic in Cranbrook, he says part of his job is to serve as somewhat of an ambassador for the region when recruiting or hiring employees from out of town.
“I would try to attract more working professionals to our area,” Skaien says. “This kind of the reason I’ve decided to run, I’ve always been an advocate for Kimberley and the lifestyle. I’m a mountain biker, a skier, a golfer, a rock climber, so naturally I love where I live.”
He has lived in Kimberley for twelve years, and plans to keep his roots in the community for years to come.
“Once I finished college, I had the opportunity to go elsewhere but I chose to stay because I really do love this town,” says Skaien. “Everything that it seems to offer are the things I really enjoy doing. That’s the big reason why I love living here, it works so well for my lifestyle.”
He says main issues for city council’s upcoming term surround infrastructure upgrades, particularly for Kimberley’s wastewater treatment plant.
The municipal election is happening October 15.
