A Sparwood District Council candidate hopes to improve transportation for medical patients .
Rose Sharma has lived in Sparwood for roughly 40 years, she’s president of the Sparwood Arts Council and the Community Garden.
This is Sharma’s third time running for council.
“I didn’t get in [last time] and then I’ve been asked by people in the community to put my name forward, so I said Ok I’ll give it a try,” says Sharma. “And of course I love my community and I like to see the progress happen in my town. To all my other candidates who are running for it, good luck to them. And tell my voters to please pick the best ones or if you’d like to have a change? Then go for the change.”
Sharma wants to focus on topics like housing and health if she is elected.
“The one I think most important is we need to have transportation for the seniors or anybody who can not drive from here to the doctors appointment,” she says. “There’s no transportation, we need to tackle that part. I know it’s not easy to tackle but this should be the priority.”
The 2022 Municipal election is happening October 15.
