The City of Cranbrook has finished several capital works projects this year including its paving program and the Mount Royal Phase 2 reconstruction project.
Meanwhile, pressure reducing valve reconstruction work at Wildstone is moving along.
The City’s Curtis Mummery says the new PRV station is operational and is being housed at a new building.
“The old station has been partially decommissioned,” says Mummery. “The new building has been put up and we’re in the detail planning right now to do the overnight shutdown work to remove the old building. And then following that the remainder of the curb gutter sidewalk and such will be reinstated.”
Mummery says the Lagoons Cell 1 upgrades project has been delayed due to a higher amount of sludge and foreign objects to be removed.
“It’s taken a little bit longer for them to get through that process, and we’ve had a lot of material delays for the contractor to be able to get a lot of the other work going,” he says. “Due to that, there will be some portions of that work that carry forward into the next construction season.”

Pressure reducing valve reconstruction work at the entrance to Wildstone is moving along well, with the new station now operational and the new building has been assembled.
Detailed planning is underway for an overnight shutdown in early October 2022 to safely dismantle the existing building.
The City will provide notice to the public well in advance of this planned shutdown.
Site restoration work, including concrete curb and sidewalk will follow once demolition work is complete.
