An incumbent Fernie City Councillor is hoping local voters will give him another four years at City Hall.
Kevin McIsaac is seeking re-election, he is running for his third term, though it is his first time running as an incumbent.
McIsaac says city council made some great strides in the community in the last term, particularly given obstacles which were brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The last four years have been extremely challenging, like in all places,” McIsaac says. “I’ve been very proud of the work that city council and staff have been able to do under trying circumstances. We’ve done a lot of work towards the ‘non sexy stuff’ like asset management and public works buildings.”
He says more major infrastructure work is on deck for the community over the next four years, and he says addressing housing affordability should be a focal point for city council in the upcoming term.
“We have some large and looming projects coming, infrastructure projects,” says McIsaac. “It’s the kind of thing that ensures people have safe streets and playgrounds for kids and the water coming out of the tap is safe.”
The election is set for October 15.
