BC Wildfire Service says a new camp to tackle the Weasel Creek Wildfire near Roosville is now fully operational.
The purpose of the new camp is to reduce driving time, allowing crews and operational staff to work on the fire longer and minimize fatigue.
It also provides better water access, septic, fuel, generator run power and communications to wildfire crews.
The Weasel Creek fire is covering 1,177 hectares on the Canadian side of the border.
Fire growth continues to move west up the Couldrey drainage, which is also the area of the fire with the most activity.
Crews are focused on the Couldrey Creek area currently and BC Wildfire Service personnel are assessing priority actions and objectives in advance of the expected growth in the Flathead area.
