The Regional District of East Kootenay is recognizing a resident who took volunteerism to new heights.
Todd Weselake has been named the 2022 Electoral Area A Volunteer of the Year.
Area Director Mike Sosnowski says Weselake is being recognized for his service as co -founder and pilot with Angel Flight East Kootenay, the local non profit transports patients to and from hospital in Kelowna.
“Angel Flight has not only helped Area A, but has helped everyone in the east Kootenay,” Sosnowski says. “It changes the transportation from 8-10 hours to go to Kelowna and get treatment or an appointment, to a couple hours.”
Sosnowski says Weselake recently moved to Prince George and he’ll be recognized formally with a letter and gift.
“The last time I’d seen Todd, we’d both knew that he’d won the award, and it was at the golf tournament, they raised $150,000 for Angel Flight,” he says. “He was moving on to a corporate jet job in Prince George, quite a career move for him to get that work.”
Weselake will remain on Angel Flight East Kootenay’s board in an advisory capacity.
