College of the Rockies has received a donation for it’s health programs.
Western Financial Group has donated $5,000 to COTR’s Dean’s Health Education Technology Fund to help purchase new technology for health students.
Dean of Health and Human Services Heather Hepworth says they in particular hope to purchase virtual reality training technology.
“Students can actually experience a health care situation or simulation without having to use hands on resources that we buy to supply for our labs,” Hepworth says. “Or to have to have an impact on the healthcare practice placement settings in Cranbrook and the Region.”
Hepworth says the Technology Fund started last year with the Giving Tuesday event.
“Health technology is changing all the time,” she says. “We have several programs that can benefit from this. We have a dental program, a kinesiology program, and of course our nursing programs all are programs that could benefit from this donation.”
The donation was accepted at the college on Friday, June 17, by Hepworth and two Bachelor of Science in Nursing students.
