East Kootenay artists are invited to help spruce up Cranbrook’s Viking Skateboard Park.
The Cranbrook Arts Council is looking for five local artists to paint murals at the skatepark during Sam Steele Days.
Executive director Christyn Rebmann says they will provide all the necessary tools.
“We are hoping for younger emerging artists or skate culture artists,” Rebmann says. “Who will be able to express themselves in a constructive way that will beautify the park instead of the lovely profanity that is already there.”
Rebmann says they’ll be covering graffiti at the park.
“It will be great to have something that is more expressive and interesting to both look at for the skaters who are there, but also the community,” she says. “Instead of it being an eyesore it can be a place of pride and something else to look at.”
The project is happening June 18 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, deadline to apply is June 15.
